ABOUT ME

Hello!

My name is Ronan Sellars. I’m 19 years old and a college student in New Jersey who has aspirations of attending Bowling Green State University’s RAAM Program. I’m a roller coaster and theme park enthusiast, an amateur photographer, a creative storyteller and hard-working student with a strong work ethic.

I take my student life very seriously and I value my school experience. My grades and studies may be the top priority, but I also love to travel, visit amusement parks and create friendships with people who have similar interests. My life as a roller coaster enthusiast has brought me a long way and showed me a world that I adore from top to bottom. Throughout my life I have had many highs and lows, but have learned not only to keep a positive, uplifting mindset, but to be adaptive and resilient even when life hands me lemons.

While the Amusement and Theme Park industry is my life passion, I have many other hobbies and interests to share with others, including film, art, history, music, theater, motorsport, business, outdoor excursions, and much more!

Dreams and Aspirations

I have always dreamed of being in the amusement park industry. When I was a kid, I dreamed that I could one day be a Disney Imagineer like my childhood role models: Joe Rhode, Bob Gurr, Tony Baxter, Mark Davis, and even Walt Disney himself. I was drawn to the art of Imagineering: making people happy while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of engineering and technology.  As I got older my experiences and interests expanded out from Disney and I fell in love with the complexity and beauty behind thrill machines. Yes! I loved riding roller coasters, but even more I wanted to design them! Coaster engineering is one of the most complicated industries in the world and as technology continuously evolves, so must the imaginative minds that create them. New role models such as Alan Schilke, Ron Toomer, Werner Stengel, and John Wardley motivated me to follow my dreams and share my ideas with the world. After high school graduation I pursued my dream of coaster design at one of the top engineering schools on the east coast, but quickly realized that it wasn’t the right fit. I recognized that I don’t want to the person building the machinery. I want to be the person who decides what is constructed and how it fits into a larger plan. After taking some business courses at a community college, I now confidently tell people that my ultimate life goal is to be the next big innovator. I want to push the amusement industry forward using powerful storytelling and artful machinery in order to take a park goer out of their ordinary world and transport them into a new and extraordinarily cohesive experiences. I want to use my imagination and storytelling, mix it with my knowledge of design and new found love of business administration to pursue my dream of creating and managing a new amusement park experience for guests of all ages and abilities.
